About Friends of Princeton Charter School
Friends of Princeton Charter School (“Friends”) is a charitable nonprofit corporation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (EIN #22-3483674). It is the Parent-Teacher Organization operated exclusively to benefit and support the charitable purposes of Princeton Charter School (“PCS”), located in Princeton, New Jersey.
About Princeton Charter School
PCS is an independently operated public school that provides educational excellence to K–8 students residing in the Princeton Regional School District.
- Admission is via lottery and is open to all students
- Has a rigorous and dynamic curriculum
- Ranked #1 Middle School and #2 Elementary School in New Jersey
- Recognized as a Blue Ribbon School in 2004 and 2023
Parent Involvement
PCS has a culture of active parent involvement from its inception to the present day. PCS was founded in 1997 by a group of parents who personally funded and raised money within the community to establish the school. This support continues today with generous donations of both time and money from parents.
PCS parents are active members of the PCS community, providing input and taking initiatives that contribute to an outstanding educational experience for our students.
Why Donations Matter
PCS receives significantly less funding per student than neighboring district schools. While expenses for core student instruction are covered similarly to public schools, all costs for technology, infrastructure, facilities, services, and after-school programs must be self-funded.
What Friends of PCS Does
Like PCS, Friends of PCS began with its incorporation in 1997 and has been operating exclusively to further the charitable and educational purposes of PCS.
- Acquiring and receiving contributions
- Fundraising and soliciting charitable donations
- Making grants and other distributions to PCS
- Providing assets for PCS use
- Supporting community-building activities such as picnics, field day, and student trips
